Auditing of Businesses

Auditing of Businesses is a course intended to provide guidance and instruction for the establishment of a local tax auditing program in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The course provides information regarding the basics of a local tax auditing program, the statutory authority to conduct audits, the establishing of audit objectives and planning the scope of an audit. In addition, the course provides instruction on writing an audit program, the appeals process and conduct of professional audit behavior and standards.

The in person course format is a two (2) day offering finishing with an online exam after the review concludes on Day 2.

• Registration begins at 8:30 on Day 1.
• Instruction begins at 9:00 am each day, unless the instructor requests otherwise.
• The online exam, administered through UVACollab, will be available from noon on Day 2 of the class through 5:00 pm the following business day.
