Does any locality impose business or excise taxes on not-for-profit organizations? Our City Council is weighing the matter specifically with regards to admissions and meals taxes on events sponsored by not-for-profit civic organizations. This would exclude charitable organizations with 501(c)(3) status but would include tax assessment for the many civic, cultural and political groups organized with 501(c)(4) status.
